FIFA has decided to abolish the rule allowing national teams participating in the Olympic Games to have players over the age limit of three.
In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games football competition, only players under the age of 23 will be able to participate, FIFA announced on Wednesday.
"We have asked Congress to abolish this rule," FIFA President Sepp Blatter announced on Wednesday after a meeting in Leipzig, Germany.
In the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, the Argentine national team that won had three players over the age of 23 in their lineup: experienced defenders Roberto Ayala and Gabriel Heinze, and midfielder Kily Gonzalez.
