"Premier" league - "Chelsea" continues to firmly lead © EuroFootball.com

On Saturday, as usual, the whole of England lived in a football rhythm. Eight matches took place in the country's sixteenth round of the championship, after which the leader "Chelsea" further strengthened its position at the top of the table.

The victim of the fourteenth London club this season was the successful, but crisis-ridden "Wigan" club. The title defending Jose Mourinho's team defeated them with a minimal result of 1-0. Interestingly, defender John Terry scored the winning goal, just like in the previous round, this time in the 66th minute, while in the last round match he defeated the "Middlesbrough" goalkeeper five minutes earlier.

The increasingly successful "Liverpool" club continues its winning streak. This time, thanks to two goals scored by Fernando Morientes, the winners of the Champions League defeated "Middlesbrough" and rose to second place in the league table. However, tomorrow Liverpool could be overtaken by "Man Utd" playing against "Everton" at their home "Old Trafford" stadium.

Meanwhile, fans of London's "Arsenal" probably already forget the times when they did not suffer any losses throughout the entire 2003/04 Premier League season and ruled the English football pitch. Today, the "Gunners" suffered their fourth defeat of the season - Arsene Wenger's team was defeated by a far from impressive "Newcastle" side. The only goal of the match was scored in the 82nd minute by Nolberto Solano.

After this defeat, "Arsenal" has worsened their positions and now ranks only sixth with 26 points.
