L. Pilibaitis dreams about the national team © EuroFootball.com

This year, the twenty-year-old FBK "Kaunas" forward Linas Pilibaitis made significant progress - noticed by all Lithuanian football specialists. In the middle of the season, the boy who moved from "Kaunas Jėgeriai" to "Kaunas" quickly adapted to the team, scored four goals for them, and became one of the discoveries of the season.

In an interview given to the official website of the "A Lyga", the player said he dreams of playing for the national team.

Missed football

- "Kaunas" holidays are coming to an end. Have you already managed to rest from football?

- I rested in Kretinga with my parents. I not only managed to rest but also missed football.

- Halfway through the previous season, you played in the country's first league, representing "Kaunas Jėgeriai". Later you moved to "Kaunas". Did you feel a big difference in skill level between the first and A League?

- Very big. In A League, the loads are completely different, much faster speeds.

- Did you expect to integrate into the "Kaunas" team so successfully this year?

- I always hope to perform successfully. However, I have to admit that it went even better than I expected. It's nice that the coach trusted me. Next season, "Kaunas" will have a different coach, and I will have to earn his trust.

Had to undergo surgery

- You scored 15 goals for "Kaunas Jėgeriai" halfway through the season. If you hadn't moved to "Kaunas", could you have become the top scorer in the first league championship?

- I was scoring goals in the first league. However, I cannot affirm that I would have scored the most. I just can't imagine it.

- A few years ago, you were talked about as a promising footballer. What was the injury that prevented you from revealing yourself earlier?

- I had a torn meniscus, needed surgery. After it, I started playing too early, so my leg was hurting. I had to spend several months without football.

- Who would you choose as the best "Kaunas" player?

- Tomas Kančelskis. Tomas defends very well, the team trusts him.

Doesn't miss the coach's remarks

- How do you react to the coach's remarks, words of praise?

- I haven't heard words of praise yet. I definitely pay attention to remarks. I always listen to the coach's words. If you ignore them, you won't improve.

- What is your closest dream related to football?

- I want to establish myself in the "Kaunas" team, continue to improve. Later - go to a foreign club, represent the Lithuanian national team.

- Do you hope to be invited soon to a trial at Edinburgh "Hearts" team?

- If I play well, I can hope for such an invitation. However, it depends not only on me but also on the coaches, the club's owner.
