n Saturday, victories were celebrated in the 16th round of the Spanish league ("La Liga") by crisis-busting Bilbao "Athletic", form-gaining La Coruna "Deportivo", and league leaders "Barcelona". The latter team improved the club's all-time record, securing twelve consecutive wins in all tournaments.

In the matches held in Cadiz, the hosts only troubled "Barcelona's" "train" at the beginning of the match, but even without leader Ronaldinho, the guests took the lead in the 31st minute thanks to a goal by Ludovic Giuly, receiving a pass from midfielder Andres Iniesta and sending the ball into the net. At the end of the first half, Mexican Rafael Marquez earned a penalty kick from eleven meters. Only on the second attempt did the most productive player of "Barcelona" and the Spanish championship Samuel Eto'o manage to score.

In the second half, just three minutes after receiving a pass from the young prodigy Lionel Messi, a Cameroonian scored his fifteenth goal of the season. "Cadiz's" efforts in this match were somewhat rewarded at the end of the match, when in extra time, Croatian Nenad Miroslavjevic scored from close range.

Rising successfully from the bottom of the standings is the soon-to-be-form Bilbao "Athletic", this time securing a 2-0 victory against Sevilla's "Betis" at the bottom of the standings.

In the 21st minute of the match, forward Ismael Urzaiz scored with a header after a pass from Francisco Yeste, and seven minutes later, the young Mikel Danobeitia doubled the score by breaking through from the right side and sending the ball into the near corner of the goal.

All hopes of at least scoring a point in this match failed for "Betis", who this year did not secure a single victory in nine away matches, as in the 80th minute, defender Oscar Lopez was sent off the field.

The form-gaining players of La Coruna's "Deportivo" achieved a resounding victory on Saturday, crushing Vigo "Celta" 3-0, who had the same number of points before the round. The end of the match became almost clear in the 24th minute, when "Celta" goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto was sent off for a foul on Pedro Munitis, and in his place came Esteban, who failed to save Diego Tristano's shot from eleven meters.

At the end of the first half, Juan Carlos Valeron doubled the score with an individual run, breaking through three defenders and sending the ball into the corner of the goal, and just before the end of the match, defender Joan Capdevila scored the third goal with a penalty kick from about 25 meters.

In the second half, Pedro Munitis earned a second penalty kick from eleven meters, but Diego Tristan failed to score for the second time, missing the goal.
