T

he champion of Lithuania's "A Lyga" Panevėžys has signed a two-year contract with thirty-year-old striker Egidijus Varnas.

Part of the previous season, the football player represented the FK team, scoring six goals. Only striker Gediminas Butavičius from Šiauliai had more goals than him. Previously, E. Varnas played in Israel, and before that he wore the "Ekranas" shirt.

"Egidijus is an experienced player, I know his capabilities because he has already played in the Panevėžys team. I believe he will strengthen "Ekranas" because he played in Israel, where he matured. I like that E. Varnas is a determined player," said the head coach of "Ekranas" Virginijus Liubšys to alyga.lt.

Since December 12th, the people of Panevėžys have started training. The team will take a break before Christmas and will resume training on January 9th next year. V. Liubšys stated that "Ekranas" will still be looking for players who could strengthen the team.

"I am pleased to see that our young players are improving," said the coach.
