Marco Di Vaio is launching the team. The 29-year-old striker from Italy, unable to find a place in the tactical schemes of head coach Enrique Sanchez Flores until the end of this season, will be loaned to the club with the option to buy him for 6 million euros.
This summer, the Valencia team was supplemented by striker David Villa, who secured a place in the starting lineup of the Spanish team, from which M. Di Vaio cannot seem to displace the Spaniard. However, the Italian also managed to break into the starting eleven several times, but that was not enough to expect a call-up to the Italian national team.
It was no secret that Monaco was trying to acquire M. Di Vaio. The search for a new striker for Monaco began after one of the main team strikers, Javier Ernesto Chevanton, could not recover from injuries, and another striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, has been attracting the attention of other clubs for some time. Nevertheless, the latter is likely to remain in the team.
Meanwhile, M. Di Vaio openly expressed his hope that Monaco would take advantage of the opportunity to acquire him for a longer period next summer: "I don't think about returning to Valencia. I wanted to find a team where I would play, and Monaco gave me that opportunity. I will have the opportunity to play and that is the most important thing for me."
M. Di Vaio arrived at the Spanish team in the summer of 2004 from Turin for 11.5 million euros.
