mpressive series of consecutive matches played by London leader Frank Lampard in the "Premiership" league unexpectedly ended on Wednesday when the England national team goalkeeper decided not to play during warm-up before the match against "Man City."

F. Lampard, whose streak had reached 164 matches since October 2001, was included in the starting lineup for the match against "Man City," but during warm-up he announced that he could not play due to a viral infection.

Instead of the Englishman, J. Mourinho allowed Icelandic Eidur Gudjohnsen onto the field.

F. Lampard, who last month against "Portsmouth" surpassed the record of 159 consecutive matches set by "Man City" goalkeeper David James, stated that he will aim to play 200 consecutive matches.
