Some of the leaders of the Bundesliga allowed Belgian national team striker Emile Mpenza to leave to play in Qatar.
"We allowed him to go to Qatar for three days," said a Hamburg club representative to the press on Monday and added that whether the transfer will take place will depend only on the player himself.
E. Mpenza, whose contract with the German club is valid until June 2008, scored only one goal in over ten games played this season. "HSV" coach Thomas Dollas hinted that the player is not valued in the club.
The German media claims that "Al Rayyan" would have to pay about 1.5 million euros for E. Mpenza's transfer.
The 27-year-old striker has represented the Belgian national team 49 times.
The German media states that E. Mpenza's departure from "HSV" would be a minor loss, as they are actively trying to attract German national team striker Lukas Podolski. The Hamburg club is also interested in Belgrade's "Crvena Zvezda" star Nikola Zigic.
