On Monday, NFKA "A Lyga" bronze winner Marijampolė officially announced that three players have been released from the club.
The Suvalkija club bid farewell to a 24-year-old defender and two midfielders aged 29 and 24.
All three players were key members of the "bronze" team in the 2005 "A Lyga" season: the most matches - 21 - were played by S. Butkus among Marijampolė players. The midfielder stood out in the "A Lyga" league twice, and a fantastic goal at the end of the season stuck in the memory of "Sūduva" fans.
In the past season, Belarusian player V. Afanasenka played eighteen matches and scored twice, while defender G. Aleksa played 17 matches in the "A Lyga" and received two yellow cards.
According to unofficial information, all three released players are already taking part in the selection process of Vilnius' "Žalgiris".
