As we announced a couple of days ago, another footballer has returned to Ekranas, who has previously played for the Panevezys team - from Monday, the ranks of the Lithuanian champions were supplemented by 29-year-old defender from Latvia Ruslan Michalčiukas, who represented "Ekranas" in the 2004 season and won the silver medal in the "A lyga" championship with them.
As is known, in the middle of last December, "Ekranas" signed a contract with forward Egidijus Varnas, who also played for the Panevezys team a few years ago.
R. Michalčiukas started last season in the "Jurmala" team, where he suffered an injury while playing. After recovering from it, the footballer represented the team "Ventspils", with which he won the third place in the Latvian championship.
In 2004, with the "Ekranas" team, R. Michalčiukas played twelve matches of the Lithuanian football A lyga championship and two matches of the UEFA Cup's second qualifying round with the Norwegian club "Odd Grenland."
"I am happy to return to the "Ekranas" team, which is well-known and respected not only in Lithuania, but also in other Baltic countries. Especially now, when the team has won the Lithuanian champions title and will participate in the Champions League qualification matches. If a team like "Ekranas" invites me, it means I am worth something. I hope to help "Ekranas" defend the title of Lithuanian champion with successful games," - noted R. Michalčiukas.
The head coach of the Lithuanian champions, Virginijus Liubšys, also hopes that R. Michalčiukas will be useful to the "Ekranas" team. "Two years ago, he represented our team and left quite a good impression. We need fullbacks, especially those playing on the left side of the field, so we decided to invite him," - said the head coach of "Ekranas."
