A.Kariaka: "Portugal is a backward country" © EuroFootball.com

In the team of Lisbon, the Russian national team defender Andrei Kariaka said that he would like to return to Russia if he continues to not play in the capital's team of Portugal.

In an interview with the Russian newspaper "Soviet Sport", the defender complained that the coach of "Benfica", the Dutchman Ronald Koeman, does not allow him to play.

"R. Koeman gives priority to Brazilians," said the 27-year-old A. Kariaka. "Once we talked and I asked him directly: 'Why haven't I played for two months?' He started telling me stories about Brazilians who need to play to get Portuguese citizenship."

The Russian national team player, born in Ukraine, who moved from Samara's "Krylja Sovetov" to "Benfica" in June 2005, also added that life in Lisbon is difficult.

"Portugal is a backward country," said A. Kariaka. "I think Lisbon is about twenty years behind Moscow. It's a big village. There is no place even for children to play outside."
