As officially confirmed this afternoon by Lithuanian businessman Vladimiras Romanovas's Edinburgh club, the Lithuanian national team and former Samara team defender is moving to Edinburgh - from now on, the football player will wear the local team's jersey.
The 27-year-old player left the "Krylia Sovetov" club before the New Year and arrived in the Scottish capital to participate in the trial, where he performed successfully, like the other Lithuanians in the team, signed a contract with the FBK club, also owned by V.Romanovas, and then was loaned to "Hearts" until the end of the season.
"We are happy that today we have completed all the formalities with Nerijus' contract. During the trial period, he worked very hard here. We have already received the release letter, so he will probably already play in tomorrow's match against 'Dunfermline'," - said "Hearts" head coach Graham Rix about the new player.
In the Edinburgh team, N.Barasa will join three other compatriots - defenders Saulius Mikoliūnas and Deividas Česnauskis, and forward Edgaras Jankauskas. However, when the formalities are settled, Bosnian national team midfielder Mirsad Bešlija will also join the team, meaning one of the two Lithuanians playing in the same position in the team will likely have to leave.
