In the Italian Championship, "Roma" celebrated an important victory © EuroFootball.com

This weekend, all matches of the nineteenth round of the Italian league were played. A significant victory was achieved by the team "Roma", which defeated the club "Milan". The championship leaders Turin "Juventus" and Milan "Inter" also celebrated victories. The most attention in this round of matches was drawn to the match where "Roma" defeated their opponents "Milan" at home with a score of 1-0. The hosts started the match with only one striker, Francesco Totti, as all other team strikers were sidelined due to injuries. The visitors were without Cafu and team captain Paolo Maldini. The first dangerous moment of the match was caused by a mistake from the hosts. "Roma" defender Daniele De Rossi's shot went straight to "Milan" defender Clarence Seedorf, and only an excellent save from the capital club's goalkeeper prevented him from scoring. A little later, both "Milan" strikers Andre Shevchenko and Alberto Gilardino had the opportunity to score, but they also failed to find the net. The first half ended with a more active performance from "Roma", but the hosts failed to create any more dangerous opportunities. The second half began with attacks from the "Milan" team, especially dangerous was C. Seedorf. However, led by the team captain, the "Roma" players gradually took the initiative, and dangerous shots from Simone Perrotta and Alberto Aquilani did not give the visitors' goalkeeper any peace. Later, "Roma" coach brought in the Brazilian Amantino Mancini, who decided the end of the match with just nine minutes to go. During the counterattack, the Brazilian's shot changed direction after hitting "Milan" defender Jaap Stam and deceived the visitors' goalkeeper Dida into conceding. After this goal, "Milan" threw all their efforts into attacking in an attempt to equalize the result, but the "Roma" players defended well and celebrated a very important victory. In other championship matches, league leaders "Juventus" secured another victory. This time, the Turin club defeated the "Reggina" team at home with a minimal result. The team of the country's champions was brought the victory by the captain Allesandro Del Piero's goal at the end of the first half. It is worth mentioning that Gianluigi Buffon, considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world, appeared for "Juventus" for the first time this year, having missed the first part of the season due to injury. Rising to second place, "Inter" won a thrilling match at home, defeating "Cagliari" with a score of 3-2. The hosts scored two goals through Brazilian Adriano, while a temporarily returned Nigerian from the African Nations Cup Obafemi Martins scored once. Also, the fourth-placed "Fiorentina" also secured three points, defeating Verona's "Chievo" team at home with a score of 2-1. The victory was brought to the hosts by the goal of the most scoring player of the "Serie A" Luca Toni, who also scored the first goal and thus ended his series of five "dry" matches. "Livorno" unexpectedly failed to defeat the "Siena" team at home - the teams played a 2-2 draw. The match featured an exciting attacking, back-and-forth football and both teams had many opportunities to score, leaving the spectators satisfied. In the very tense match between "Parma" and Rome's "Lazio", a 1-1 draw was recorded. The capital club took the lead in the 6th minute after Tommaso Rocchi's goal, but "Parma" equalized in the 39th minute when former "Lazio" player Bernardo Corradi found the net. As the latter was in an offside position during the successful team attack and the linesman had already raised the flag, the goal caused protests from the capital club, for which even the team coach Delio Rossi was sent off the field. "Failing to find their game," "Udinese" failed to defeat the league's bottom team "Treviso" at home. The match ended in a 2-2 draw. The visitors even took the lead 2-1, but the hosts were saved from a shameful defeat by Antonio Di Natale, who successfully converted an 11-meter penalty. Finally, the Genoa "Sampdoria" team managed to end their streak of failures with a victory away against "Lecce" with a score of 3-0. After a suspension, the team's leader Mirko Vucinic returned to the hosts, but he could not help his team, which demonstrated a hopeless game.

["Ascoli" continued the unsuccessful series of the "Empoli" team and defeated them at home with a score of 3-1. The team that had a successful start to the season "Empoli" did not feel the taste of victory for eight consecutive rounds - after such an unsuccessful series, the head coach will likely be dismissed, with Mario Somma taking over the team's leadership.

["In the Sicilian derby between "Messina" and "Palermo," a goalless draw of 0-0 was recorded. Although "Palermo" did send the ball into the net, the goal was not counted due to offside, and "Messina" was denied a goal as the ball cleared by a "Palermo" defender from the goal line in the final moments.
