Last week, the Vilnius "Vėtra" footballers, who started preparing for the new Lithuanian championship season, will train in Vilnius in January, and in February the club plans to hold a training camp in Spain or the United Arab Emirates to test several foreign players.
Today, the "Vėtra" players gathered for a training camp in Vilnius. The camp will last until February 5th. There are two training sessions scheduled for each day. Currently, there are a total of 22 footballers participating in the camp, during which they plan to play two matches against Borisov's "BATE" club from Belarus.
For now, defenders Aidas Preikšaitis (who underwent meniscus surgery), goalkeeper Vaidas Žutautas (recovering from a shoulder injury), and defender Darvydas Šernas (who went for a trial at the Riga "Skonto" club) cannot train with the team due to injuries.
In February, the Vilnius club plans to hold a two-week training camp in one of the foreign countries with favorable weather conditions for training at a stadium.
"Vėtra" intends to cancel the previously planned training camp in Turkey, where bird flu is rampant. Instead of Turkey, options are being considered to hold the training camp in Spain or the United Arab Emirates. Players from Russia, Czech Republic, and Cameroon will also join the team at the training camp.
