Scotland's national team defender Neil McCann, after an unsuccessful period in his career, signed a contract with Edinburgh club.
"I am absolutely delighted and hope that it will also please the fans. He turned down several lucrative offers to be able to play with us," - said with undisguised joy Edinburgh team coach Graham Rix about N. McCann, who signed a contract with Hearts until 2008.
"I had offers from English Premier League clubs that would have been more profitable, but the attraction and connection I felt to Hearts were stronger," - commented N. McCann on his decision.
31-year-old N. McCann, playing as a left back, first arrived at Hearts in 1996 from Dundee, but after two years he moved to Glasgow Rangers.
In 2003, after winning the Scottish championship, the FA Cup, and the League Cup with Rangers, he moved to Southampton in the then English Premier League.
N. McCann left Southampton by mutual agreement and played only 50 matches in the English club's lineup in two and a half years.
