The striker's injury could become a serious problem for the Ivory Coast national team in the Africa Cup of Nations. Chelsea's forward was injured in Saturday's match against Morocco, which Ivory Coast won 1-0, with the only goal of the game scored by D. Drogba from the penalty spot.
In that match, the Chelsea striker was substituted in the 65th minute after suffering a knee injury, which may force him to miss the next Group A match against Libya.
"He has three days to recover, we will see what we do," commented Ivory Coast's coach Henri Michel.
If D. Drogba were to miss the match against Libya, it would be a big loss for the Ivory Coast national team, as D. Drogba's strike partner from Lens, Aruna Dindane, had to leave to bury one of his twin daughters.
Despite the main striker's injury, H. Michelis was satisfied with the match against Morocco.
"It's good that we won. It was a very tough game against a very good Moroccan team on a pitch where you can't play quality football. It was difficult," commented H. Michelis on Saturday's match.
Meanwhile, Morocco's defender Noureddine Naybet, who reached the African Cup of Nations final in Tunisia with the national team in 2004, identified poor finishing as the main reason for their defeat.
"We didn't take advantage of many opportunities, while they took advantage of theirs and scored a goal," the defender said. "There are still two matches left, we must play them properly."
