Silvio Baldini became the second coach to be fired from the team this season, the Italian club officially announced on Monday evening. In his place, the youth team coach Roberto Rizzo will now take over as the head coach.
The club's leadership finally ran out of patience on Sunday, when "Lecce" lost 2-0 to the league newcomer "Ascoli", gathering only 13 points in 21 matches and falling to the last place in the "Serie A" standings. S. Baldini, who took over coaching duties after the first five rounds replacing coach Angelo Gregucci, was also dismissed from his duties.
"It was difficult to make this decision, especially because this situation was not solely the fault of the coach, there were many reasons. But we still needed to make a change, so now the team will be coached by the youth team coach Roberto Rizzo and the goalkeeper coach Franco Paleari. We thank Baldini for his work and wish him luck in the future," said "Lecce" sports director Guido Angelozzi.
