Italian national team and AC Milan forward received the award for the best player of the 2004-05 Serie A season at the annual player association "Oscars" ceremony - he was voted by the most colleagues.

23-year-old A. Gilardino scored 23 goals in each of the last two seasons while representing the "Parma" team in the Italian championship. His excellent performance did not go unnoticed, as last summer he was bought by the country's vice-champion "Milan" for 24 million euros, and now the footballer was also chosen as the best Italian player of the league and the best player overall.

In other award categories, the Serie A champion club "Juventus" dominated - Gianluigi Buffon was once again named the best goalkeeper, Italy's national team captain Fabio Cannavaro won the best defender award, Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic was named the best foreign player, and Fabio Capello, who won the league with the Turin team on his first attempt, received the best coach award.

The award for the best young player went to the youth national team and Fiorentina forward Giampaolo Pazzini, while the famous referee Pierluigi Collina, who has already ended his career, was chosen as the best referee of the season for the last time.
