According to the newspaper "Vakarų ekspresas", the football players of Klaipėda's "Atlantas", who had a particularly unsuccessful last season, are continuing their preparations for the new season of the "A League".

Yesterday, for the first time, the newcomer Denis Fedotovas from St. Petersburg took part in the "Atlantas" training session on Monday. This 184 cm tall Russian, born in 1977, plays in defense. D. Fedotovas previously played for St. Petersburg's "Dinamo" team, and last season he played for the Cherepovets "Severstal" team, which competed in the second league of Russia.

So, the first football "star" has already landed at "Atlantas". The club's manager Vacys Lekevičius does not hide the fact that there will be more players from Russia coming for a trial. They should arrive in Klaipėda in the first days of February. "Atlantas" will also have a new head coach, but V. Lekevičius is keeping his name secret for now. The arrival of the new coach to the port city is being postponed to next week due to visa issues.

Currently, the "Atlantas" players are mostly focusing on physical training during their sessions. They are "charging their batteries" in the gym, aerobics classes, and light athletics.

The weekly preparation cycles of the "Atlantas" players end with friendly matches. Last Friday, the team from the port city defeated Marijampolė's "Sūduva", who won the bronze medals in last year's national championship, in a friendly match in Vilnius.

On January 29, the "Atlantas" players will travel to Ventspils to compete against the "Ventspils" team, which finished third in the Latvian championship last season. According to V. Lekevičius, the newcomer to Atlantas, D. Fedotovas, will not be able to travel to Latvia because he only has a visa for our country.

By the way, as reported by the official website of the "A League" alyga.lt, Tomas Tamošauskas, who represented FBK "Kaunas" in part of last season, has returned closer to home and is training with "Atlantas", for whom he played a few games before moving to Moscow's "Dinamo". Since the 22-year-old player still belongs to the Russian club, negotiations are ongoing between the Lithuanian president of "Atlantas", Vacys Lekevičius, for the transfer of the Lithuanian to Klaipėda.
