Swiss national team defender Patrick Muller is returning to the multiple French champions and current leaders of the championship team after a two-year break.
As representatives of "Lyon" announce, the player will undergo a medical examination on Thursday and will join the team. The player has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the French team and left Switzerland with 4 million euros.
Muller has been playing for "Lyon" for four years since 2000 and helped them win 3 championship titles in a row. In 2004, he went to Spain and signed a contract with , but he could not establish himself there and after playing only 5 matches, he returned to his homeland, where he helped "Basel" win the Swiss championship title.
"Lyon" started looking for a defender after four main club defenders - Eric Abidal, Claudio Cacapa, Anthony Reveillere, and Jeremy Berthod - got injured, and another defensive player, Lamine Diatta, is currently representing the Senegalese national team at the African Nations Cup.
Muller should already play in this weekend's "Ligue 1" matches with eleven, but he won't be able to help the club in the UEFA Champions League matches, as he was registered in the "Basel" team for the third qualifying round match against Werder Bremen.
