Italian champions Turin's coach Fabio Capello confirmed that the national team and the team's defender Marco Marchionni have signed a preliminary agreement to join the club.
One of the country's most famous strategists F. Capello, who has a contract with Juventus until 2007, denied rumors that he might move to Real Madrid and emphasized that he himself chose the player who will strengthen the team next season.
"What you read in the press about my future is untrue. I can confirm that Marchionni will join our team in June - this is how we, together with the club's management, are preparing for the next season," said F. Capello. "I like Marchionni, and without a doubt, we would not have invited a player whom I do not appreciate. We make decisions to acquire players together with the directors, but I decide on technical matters."
25-year-old M. Marchionni's contract with Parma will end next summer, so since January, he has been able to negotiate with other clubs and chose to join Juventus, who currently lead in the Serie A championship.
Returning after a serious knee injury, which caused him to miss part of the previous season, M. Marchionni has scored 3 goals in 15 matches this season. In 2003, he made his debut for the Italian national team in a match against Poland, and later he was called up to represent the team again.
