Today, the Winter Cup tournament of the Sunday Football League took place at the "Sportimos" arena in Vilnius, where 12 amateur teams competed to determine which of them maintained the best sports form throughout the season.
The tournament, lasting for over 3 hours, saw the 12 clubs divided into 2 groups, with the top 4 teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
The competition began with matches between Prelegentai - Šaltupys and Užupis - Vova. Although it seemed that Prelegentai and Užupis would easily defeat their opponents, things did not go as expected. Prelegentai took the lead in the first half with goals from R. Skirmantas and T. Gražiūnas, but in the second half Šaltupys made a comeback and threatened the opponent's goal.
In Group A, the leaders emerged after each team played three matches. The Prelegentai and Navigatoriai clubs secured the top spots with three wins.
In Group B, the leaders were Kruša and SMK Policija, who also remained undefeated, but played a draw against each other.
One of the most intriguing matches in Group A was between the Prelegentai and Navigatoriai teams, where the group winner was practically decided. In a tension-filled game, Prelegentai took a 2-0 lead and secured the first-place finish in the group.
After the group stage, the quarter-finalists from Group A were Prelegentai, Navigatoriai, Pietų IV, and Viesulas, while from Group B, it was Kruša, SMK Policija, Nerealas, and Užupis.
