In the only "Premier" league match in Scotland on Sunday, defending champions Glasgow Rangers met with successful Inverness this season. The country's champions secured a 3-2 victory on the road, ending their opponents' streak of 11 consecutive unbeaten matches and rising to third place.

Rangers didn't have to wait long and surged forward at the beginning of the match when new Rangers signing Kris Boyd scored after a pass from Thomas Buffel, but soon Inverness equalized - a long-range shot from Ross Tokely found Craig Dargo, and the home team's striker beat the opponent's goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus.
Later, Bob Malcolm threatened the Inverness goal twice, with his first shot saved by goalkeeper Mark Brown, but the second hit the bar. M. Brown saved his team from Peter Lovenkrands' attempt, but when Marvin Andrews directed the ball into the goal with his shoulder, Rangers restored their advantage.
Rangers continued to dominate and increased their lead after playing almost an hour. P. Lovenkrands was fouled in the penalty area and the resulting penalty kick was converted by the league's top scorer K. Boyd, for whom this was his 19th goal of the season and 7th in four matches for the team since his move from Kilmarnock.
In the 72nd minute, Denis Wyness headed in a goal to reduce the deficit and bring intrigue to the match, but R. Waterreus saved Rangers from being equalized, knocking the ball away from the goal line after it bounced off defender Ian Murray's hand. Glasgow club triumphed and overtook Edinburgh Hibernian in the league table, rising to third position, while Inverness remained sixth.
