In the Dutch "Eredivisie" league another talented forward has left - following the example of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's move to Amsterdam's "Ajax", a young Greek player has also chosen the club.
20-year-old G. Samaras, who was chased by many English and European clubs, caused a stir when "Heerenveen" requested nearly 14 million euros for him and he refused to participate in team training sessions. As a result, the Dutch club was forced to concede and agreed to sell the player for approximately 9 million euros to "Man City", with whom the Greek player should sign a 4.5-year contract after passing a medical examination.
G. Samaras moved to "Heerenveen" in 2001 and debuted in the team at just 17 years old in 2002, scoring three goals in four matches. Although much was expected from the young forward, he did not establish himself in the team's main lineup. However, he successfully appeared on the field as a substitute - in total, in 88 matches, the Greek player scored 25 goals. At the "Man City" club, he is expected to replace Robbie Fowler, who unexpectedly moved to "Liverpool".
