The national team of Czech Republic and London goalkeeper Petr Cech has signed a new contract with the English champions club, which will keep him in the team for at least another four years - until 2010. The previous Czech's contract with Chelsea would have been valid for another one and a half years.
"I am very satisfied. When I arrived at the team, I just wanted to get into the starting lineup and win trophies. I managed to do that last season and got a new contract for it. Now I want to win even more trophies," said one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
23-year-old P. Cech moved to Chelsea from Rennes in the summer of 2004. In his first season in England, the goalkeeper helped his team become the country's champion and win the League Cup. The Czech legionnaire also became the record holder of the Premier League, as he kept his goal "dry" for 1024 consecutive minutes without conceding a single goal.
Recently, the long-time goalkeeper of the team also extended his contract with Chelsea. Although the Italian, at 32 years old, usually remained on the bench while Cech played excellently, he agreed to sign a new contract valid until 2009.
