In the only Copa del Rey semi-final match played on Wednesday, Real Madrid suffered a crushing defeat with a very humiliating result.

6 - 1 Real Madrid

15' [1 - 0] Diego Milito

22' [2 - 0] Diego Milito

34' [3 - 0] Diego Milito

38' [3 - 1] Julio Baptista

56' [4 - 1] Diego Milito

60' [5 - 1] Ewerthon

83' [6 - 1] Ewerthon

A fantastic performance by two forwards – four goals by Argentine Diego Milito and two by Brazilian Ewerthon – led to a massive victory for the Zaragoza team, practically crushing Real Madrid's hopes of winning the Spanish Copa del Rey this year.

By the 34th minute of the match, D. Milito had already scored a hat-trick, and although Real managed to soften the score to 3-1 by the end of the first half, Zaragoza demonstrated their absolute superiority over the Royal club in the second half and scored three more goals.

Currently in excellent form, Zaragoza's players, who ended Barcelona's impressive winning streak in the quarterfinals, had a five-goal lead going into the return leg in Madrid and are already preparing for the final match – which would see them face the winner of the Espanyol and Deportivo pair.

It is worth mentioning that, despite the seemingly strong lineup, Real Madrid played with almost their strongest team in this match. This was one of the biggest defeats in the history of the Royal club – the last time they experienced a similar failure was in the same stage of the cup, when they lost 6-0 to Valencia.
