Another "Hamburger" failure in the Bundesliga © EuroFootball.com

At the middle of this week, the 20th round of matches took place in the German national football championship. On Tuesday and Wednesday, nine matches were played with an unusually low number of goals - only 16. By the way, it is interesting that the teams occupying the top five positions were unable to secure victories.

Berlin's "Hertha" joined the few teams this season that managed to take points from the securely leading "Bayern" footballers in the league. In the match held in the German capital, watched by about 73 thousand spectators, "Hertha" ended the game against the league champions without goals, breaking their five-game winning streak.

After the match, "Bayern" coach admitted that his team did not find their game, so they should be content with a draw against "Hertha". Meanwhile, the opponent's coach F. Gotzas was pleased that his players performed their assigned tasks well and proved that they can compete with the strongest clubs.

The second part of the season continues to be very tough for the "Hamburger" team. The city's club, which had been chasing the leaders "Bayern" almost throughout the first round, this time lost 2-1 away to the "Hannover" team. The hosts took the lead, after at the beginning of the second half, D. Zurawas scored a goal with a header without any interference. In the 72nd minute, V. Hashemian added another goal, leaving "Hamburger" with almost no hope of saving the game. However, at the end of the match, after D. Jarolimo's cross into the penalty area, S. Barbarez managed to reduce the score. With the second failure in the last three matches, the "Hamburger" team is now ten points behind the leaders.

However, this defeat was not the only bad news for the club and its fans. After the match, it was revealed that striker Ailton, who recently joined the team, broke his jaw during the game and the Brazilian will not be able to help the Hamburg club for about seven weeks. Perhaps the only good news is that one of the club leaders, R. van der Vaart, has already started training lightly.

The other leaders also struggled - "Werder" failed to beat the wavy "Stuttgart" team playing away, while "Schalke" had to settle for a draw against "Gladbach" in the opponents' field. Both of these matches ended in goalless draws.

"Bayer" was the only team that managed to easily defeat their opponents - Leverkusen players crushed "Wolfsburg" 4-0 at home and took advantage of a good opportunity to reduce the gap from the leaders. Now the "Bayer" club, in tenth place, is only four points away from the fifth place, which allows them to compete in the UEFA Cup.

The chance to at least slightly rise from the bottom of the table was not taken by the league's outsiders "Kaiserslautern", who ended the match at home against the lately showing poor "Koln" team with a 2-2 draw. Both teams shared a point and remained at the bottom of the table.
