Round 26: "Bordeaux" approaches the leaders © EuroFootball.com

On Saturday, eight matches of the 26th round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played. The other two games will be played on Sunday evening.

In this round, the championship leader "Lyon" lost two points due to injuries. This time, the defending champions managed to snatch a draw against "Lens" players with a goal scored by Sylvain Wiltord in the last minute of the match.

"Bordeaux", who is currently in second place, took advantage of the leader's stumble. Bordeaux players defeated "Rennes" 2-0 at home and reduced the gap from the leaders to 7 points. However, it should be noted that "Lyon" has played one game less due to the postponed match against "Monaco".

In the battle for the second place, "Auxerre" also lost two points. "Auxerre", currently in the third position, could only manage a 1-1 draw at home against the underdog "Metz". Now "Auxerre" is behind "Bordeaux" by 6 points.

"Monaco" also lost two points over the weekend, drawing 1-1 with "Troyes" who are in the 17th position. Christian Vieri scored in consecutive games for the club, adding to the team just a few weeks ago.

Returning to "Ligue 1" this year, "Le Mans" took advantage of the failures of the clubs above them. They defeated "Nice" 2-0 with two goals in the second half, rising from 9th place to 7th.
