In the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final match against "Zaragoza", Madrid's "Real" club almost created a miracle and fell just one goal short of reaching the final, despite losing the first match 6-1.
Madrid 4 - 0 (First leg 1-6; aggregate score 5-6) 1' [1 - 0] Cicinho 5' [2 - 0] Robinho 10' [3 - 0] Ronaldo 61' [4 - 0] Roberto Carlos
With nothing to lose, the Royal club players started the match at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium under pressure and in the very first minute, the newcomer from Brazil, Cicinho, scored a fantastic goal from about 25 meters to put the hosts in the lead.
The 70 thousand fans gathered in the stadium exploded after four minutes when the young Brazilian Robinho, after a pass from Ronaldo, found himself free on the left side of the penalty area and doubled the score.
Five minutes later, the score became 3-0 - after a precise long pass from England's national team captain David Beckham from the right side, Ronaldo, positioned between two defenders, sent the ball into the goal with one touch from about eight meters away.
In the second half, the fourth goal was scored by the fourth Brazilian of "Real", Roberto Carlos, after a penalty kick where he slightly touched the ball closer to the penalty area and sent it into the goal.
Despite a very nerve-wracking end to the match and total pressure from "Real", "Zaragoza" managed to hold onto the result and advance.
In the final, which will take place in April, "Zaragoza" will face the winner of the pair between Barcelona's "Espanyol" and La Coruna's "Deportivo."
