Two goals from Uruguayan Mario Regueiro in the first ten minutes of the second half allowed "Valencia" to secure a victory against local team "Real Sociedad" in San Sebastian, even though the hosts broke through 12 seconds into the match.
After a very early conceded goal, the players of "Valencia" seemed distraught, but with persistent effort managed to overcome the hosts' defense. In the middle of the second half, Mario Regueiro defeated the goalkeeper from a very sharp angle, and after ten minutes, the Uruguayan national team left-back intercepted a poorly passed ball from the "Real Sociedad" defenders and managed to beat the goalkeeper, sending the ball into the net.
After this victory, "Valencia" continues to occupy second place in the league table, leading Madrid's "Real" by one point. "Osasuna" from Pamplona is also trying not to fall behind the leaders, having won 3-1 away against "Cadiz" on Sunday and maintaining a three-point gap with "Real".
A very determined battle is taking place for survival in the top league - on Sunday, last-placed "Mallorca" lost 0-2 to "Malaga". Meanwhile, five teams are currently tied with 22 points, sharing the 15th place in the league table.
In the meantime, Madrid's "Atletico" is rising in the league table, this time crushing Madrid's "Getafe" 3-0 away, while the match between La Coruna's "Deportivo" and "Zaragoza" ended in a 1-1 draw.
