The number of Lithuanians at the Liepaja club of Latvian champions continues to grow - the team of a neighboring country, coached by the famous specialist from Lithuania Benjamin Zelkevicius, was joined by a former Lithuanian youth national team defender.

He will join the team alongside the current Lithuanian defenders Mindaugas Kalonas and Nerijus Astrauskas. In addition, it has been revealed that another Lithuanian defender will also remain with the team for the upcoming season, making a total of four Lithuanians playing in the strongest Latvian club.

22-year-old T. Tamosauskas has been a part of a Moscow club for several years, but mainly represented the reserves and was often loaned out. Last season, the Lithuanian played for "Kaunas" until August, but after the end of the loan contract, he spent the remaining part of the season elsewhere.

Getting ready for the 2006 season, T. Tamosauskas trained with his former club "Atlantas" in Klaipeda for a while, but didn't stay long and arrived for a trial at Liepaja's "Metalurgs". The player, once considered as one of the most promising Lithuanian footballers, impressed during the trial, and after reaching an agreement with "Dinamo" on the transfer conditions, the Lithuanian signed a contract with "Metalurgs" this week.

A similar situation occurred with D. Miceika, who celebrated his 23rd birthday a couple of days ago. Since March last year, the former "Zalgiris" defender was on loan to "Metalurgs" from St. Petersburg. The Lithuanian established himself in the main team lineup and helped the team win the country's champion title, but did not stay at the club after the season.

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that D. Miceika moved to the opponent's camp of "Metalurgs" and participated in the team's trial, but did not sign a contract with the Ventspils club. Finally, the Lithuanian returned to Liepaja and on Wednesday, he traveled with "Metalurgs" to a training camp in Cyprus.
