As reported by the Lithuanian Football Federation, the 2006 Lithuanian Super Cup match, where the winner of the previous season's "A lyga" Panevezys "Ekranas" will meet the winner of the LFF Cup FBK "Kaunas," will take place on March 22 in Palanga.
The match for the established LFF Super Cup between two of the strongest Lithuanian football clubs of recent years will be played at the Palanga Stadium or a winter arena. This will be the first serious test for the teams before the start of the new season.
Last season, "Kaunas" received the LFF Super Cup without a fight, as in 2004 the club won both the national championship and the cup, while in the last Supercup match in November 2003, the Kaunas team lost to Vilnius "Žalgiris."
However, the Lithuanian football season will start earlier - on March 18-19 and 25-26, the quarterfinals of the LFF Cup will be played. The pairs of the first stage of the cup will be determined on March 3 at a draw taking place at the Kaunas LFF manor.
