On Saturday, five matches of the 27th round were played in the English Premier League. Although the leaders did not face each other in this round, many fans' eyes turned to Stamford Bridge stadium, where Chelsea managed to recover from a Champions League defeat and secure another victory in their 22nd season.

This time, Jose Mourinho's charismatic disciples defeated Portsmouth 2-0 in a packed home stadium. The first goal for Chelsea came in the 65th minute, scored by midfielder Frank Lampard from about 14 meters. The lead was doubled 14 minutes later by Dutch winger Arjen Robben, who sent the ball into the net guarded by Dean Kiely.

After this victory, the defending champions increased their lead over closest pursuers Man Utd to 15 points. However, the latter have played fewer matches. Meanwhile, Portsmouth remains second to last with 18 points.

Arsenal, who recently delighted their fans and the majority of Europe with a victory in Madrid against local rival Real, returned to their old ways. Struggling this season in the domestic league, Arsene Wenger's men were defeated away by a resurgent and in-form Blackburn club. The only goal of the match in the 18th minute was scored by Morten Gamst Pedersen.

This setback pushed Arsenal, with 41 points, down to 6th place. Blackburn, with two points more, move up to 5th place.

The recently revitalized Newcastle club continues to perform successfully. In a tough match, the "Magpies" defeated Everton club 2-0, bouncing back from their Premier League defeat on December 28. Both goals in the match were scored by midfielder Nolberto Solano.
