La Coruna and Portugal national team defender Jorge Andrade will not be able to play for about six months due to a serious knee injury suffered in Saturday's Spanish championship match. He will have to miss the summer World Cup.
27-year-old J.Andrade collided with his goalkeeper Jose Molina while trying to stop opponent Samuel Eto'o reaching the ball late on Saturday evening in a match against Barcelona. After examinations in the hospital, it was revealed that the football player had torn ligaments in his left knee, so he will need surgery.
This means that the player's rehabilitation will last about half a year - he will have to miss the rest of the season and will not be able to help the Portuguese national team in the final tournament of the World Cup taking place in Germany.
However, the Brazilian coach of the Portuguese national team Luiz Felipe Scolari stated that the player will be able to travel with the team: "His injury is terrible news for us. Nevertheless, if he wants to, he can travel with us to Germany, because he remains a team member."
