Former long-time coach of multiple French champions Paul Le Guen has agreed on a contract and should coach the current Scottish champions, Glasgow, starting from next season. This was announced by the French newspaper L`Equipe.
For some time now, Le Guen has been named as one of the most realistic contenders to replace Alex McLeish, who has been leading the "Rangers" team unsuccessfully this season and had previously announced that he would leave the team after this season.
As reported, "Rangers" offered Le Guen a four-year contract, but the coach agreed to sign only a two-year contract. The strategist also announced in advance that he would bring in his former assistant at "Lyon" club, Yves Colleu. Previously playing for "P.S.G." and coaching at "Rennes", Le Guen left the "Lyon" team after another successful season last year and has not worked in any club since.
Currently, "Rangers" hold the 3rd place in the Scottish Premiership, trailing behind the leading Glasgow club "Celtic" by as much as 21 points. However, "Rangers" are performing somewhat more successfully in this season's UEFA Champions League tournament, where for the first time in Scottish club history, they have reached the knockout stage and are currently competing against the "Villarreal" team from Spain in the round of 16.
