Today, a meeting of the Licensing Committee took place in the Lithuanian Football Federation, where it was decided to grant licenses to participate in the "A League" and UEFA-organized competitions to four Lithuanian football clubs.
For the third year in a row, a licensing system has been implemented, prepared according to UEFA requirements, which are mandatory for all UEFA members. In this year's licensing process, 10 clubs expressed their desire to participate and submitted documents supporting legal, sports, infrastructure, personnel, administrative, and financial criteria specified in the regulations to the Licensing Department.
By the decision of the Licensing Committee, licenses to participate in the "A League" club competitions organized by the LFF and in all UEFA-organized football club competitions in the 2006/2007 season were granted to the clubs that finished in the first four places last season: Panevėžys "Ekranas", FBK "Kaunas", Marijampolė "Sūduva", and Vilnius "Vėtra".
The remaining six "A League" clubs - Klaipėda "Atlantas", "Šilutė", Kėdainiai "Nevėžis", Vilnius "Žalgiris", "Šiauliai", and "Vilnius" still have the right to present missing or corrected documents to the LFF Appeal Licensing Committee. The final list of clubs receiving licenses will be announced on March 20th.
