On Tuesday, Spanish defender Raul Bravo extended his contract with the Royal club until June 2009, as reported by Madrid.
With this decision, the 24-year-old left-back defender, whose contract was set to expire this summer, put an end to the rumors that he intended to leave the Royal club after the season.
"After long negotiations, we finally reached an agreement," R.Bravo told the "Real" website. "I knew I had other options, but I always wanted to stay in Madrid."
"The best way to mark this extension would be to reach the Champions League quarterfinals," said the defender, referring to the upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg match against Arsenal in London.
In the first match between these clubs, the English team won 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, with the only goal scored by Thierry Henry.
Currently, R.Bravo, a product of the Real youth academy, is the only player capable of replacing the veteran Brazilian left-back Roberto Carlos. However, in the Wednesday match, the Spanish defender will most likely form a center-back duo with Sergio Ramos, as Jonathan Woodgate is unable to play due to injury.
