In the friendly "Palangos Juze" Cup tournament final, FBK "Kaunas" and "Šilutė" will meet - this was revealed after both "A League" clubs won their semi-final matches in penalty shootouts.
"Šilutė" forced "Šiauliai" to surrender after a penalty shootout score of 6-5. Penalties were needed because during the match neither team was able to score a goal.
"Our goals were scored by Vadimas Petrenka, Gintas Podelis, Mindaugas Grigalevičius, Audrius Juozaitis, Marius Judickas, Vygantas Zubavičius. Our goalkeeper Šarūnas Kilijonas managed to defend the goal once after the opponents' shot," said Romualdas Lavrinavičius, assistant coach of "Šilutė", to alyga.lt website.
Meanwhile, "Kaunas" managed to beat the footballers of Kaliningrad "Baltika-2" only after a penalty shootout. The Lithuanian vice-champions were more accurate with their shots from the spot - they won with a score of 5-4.
Eugenijus Riabovas, assistant coach of the "Kaunas" team, informed the alyga.lt website that the winning goals were scored by Tadas Kijanskas, Nerijus Radžius, Arkadiušas Klimekas, Gvidas Juška, and Dainius Kunevičius.
The "Palangos Juze" tournament final between "Kaunas" and "Šilutė" will take place on Sunday at 14:30. Interestingly, in the group stage matches, the "Kaunas" footballers defeated the Palanga team very easily - 9-2.
On Sunday at 12:00, the "Šiauliai" and "Baltika-2" teams will compete for third place, and tomorrow at 12:00, the Kaliningrad "Tent" and Liepaja "Metalurgs-2" teams will compete for fifth place.
It is worth mentioning that last year, ten teams competed for the "Palangos Juze" Cup: Klaipėda "Atlantas", "Šilutė", Lithuania Youth (up to 19 years old) National Team, Lithuania Youth (up to 18 years old) National Team, Vilnius "Žalgiris", Kaliningrad "Baltika-2", Kaliningrad "Baltika-Tarko", Riga "Olimps", "Ventspils-2" and Liepaja "Metalurgs-2". The tournament champions were the players of "Atlantas", who defeated "Šilutė" in the final 2-1.
