Today in Italy, six matches of the 29th round were played, in which the favorites suffered painful defeats, and one match was interrupted due to poor weather conditions.
The team "Roma" finally experienced a defeat, losing 2-3 away to the team "Ascoli". The victory of the home team was determined by a tragically played first half, during which the hosts scored all three goals. In the second half, "Roma" tried to save the game and managed to score two goals in a span of three minutes, but they lacked the strength to score an equalizer and had to admit the opponent's advantage.
A completely different game unfolded for the other capital club "Lazio". This team confidently beat "Reggina" 3-1 at home and managed to rise to the seventh place in the league standings. The hosts were led forward by Paolo Di Canio, who passed brilliantly to score the first goal, followed by Tommaso Rocchi after ten minutes from the same player's pass, and Goran Pandev secured the victory for the Roma club in the 68th minute - a consolation goal scored by the visitors two minutes later did not make a significant difference to the end of the match.
Another failure was experienced by "Livorno", losing 1-2 away to the more successful "Parma" club. In the first half, both teams scored one goal each from the penalty spot. In the 37th minute, the hosts scored first, when Fabio Simplicio successfully converted a penalty, and just before the end of the first half, Ibrahima Bakayoko scored for the visitors. However, "Parma" managed to snatch the victory after Marco Bresciano from Australia scored in the 82nd minute.
Unexpected failure also hit another club, "Chievo", fighting for a spot in next year's UEFA Cup, which also lost 1-2 away to "Empoli" fighting for survival in the league. Francesco Tavano contributed the most to the victory of the hosts. After his accurate pass, the first goal was scored and the player himself scored the second goal for his team, securing three crucial points for the "Empoli" team.
"Palermo" beat the struggling "Udinese" team 2-0 at home. The hosts scored the first goal through forward David Di Michele, who had transferred from "Udinese" to this team in January. The second goal was scored by goalkeeper Giovanni Tedesco, who also arrived at "Palermo" in January.
In other matches, "Messina" beat "Lecce" 2-1, and the match between "Fiorentina" and "Cagliari" was interrupted in the 29th minute due to a very strong wind.
