"Fiercely criticized recently by the media and football fans, Madrid forward Ronaldo recently broke ties with football legends who criticized him - compatriot Pele and Frenchman Michel Platini, stating that he will silence all negative talks during this summer's World Cup in Germany.

Constantly criticized for being overweight and in poor athletic form, the former best player on the planet did not hold back after Pele said that Ronaldo's poor performances on the field were due to a messy personal life.

"I am very disappointed," Ronaldo told a Brazilian newspaper. "Pele is Brazilian and our god, but I think he's just a cheap conformist.

I couldn't believe Pele would talk about my personal life. He could have left me in peace."

When asked about M. Platini's statements, in which the Frenchman said that the Brazilian is too old and in bad physical shape to play at the highest level, Ronaldo was equally straightforward: "I am not interested in such statements. M. Platini said that out of jealousy."

Having severed ties with the legendary football players, the forward also promised to demonstrate much better athletic form at the World Cup: "The World Cup is very motivating for many players and I will prepare very well for it, so that I can silence many people."
