Occupying the 5th place in this season's French "Ligue 1" championship, the club announced that they have extended the contract with one of the team's leaders, Franck Ribery.
Ribery joined the team just this summer from the Turkish club Galatasaray in Istanbul and surprisingly became one of the team's leaders immediately, attracting the interest of several powerful European clubs.
The 22-year-old midfielder's contract with the team still had 3 years left, but the club extended the agreement with the French youth national team player until the year 2010 to secure themselves.
Ribery himself also seemed to show no desire to leave for another club and almost without hesitation signed a new contract. He mentioned his belief in the team's future as the main reason for staying in Marseille and is ready to help them achieve their goals.
