Today, on Tuesday, the Lithuanian football season officially started - the postponed LFF Cup eighth-final matches were played at the Vilnius "Sportimos" stadium, where the match between the reserve teams of the two capital clubs "Vilnius" and "Vetra" ended goalless.

In the "Vilnius" team, new defenders Žydrūnas Grudzinskas, Akaki Khubutia, midfielders Eduardas Tučinskis and Brazilian Everton made their official debut, while in the "Vetra" reserve team, alongside young defenders, playing coach Gintaras Rimkus and experienced players who strengthened the team during the offseason such as Vidas Dančenko and Rolandas Karčemarskas also took to the field.

In the first half, both teams had dangerous moments, but failed to score. At the beginning of the second half, the "Vetra-2" team gained a numerical advantage - a red card was shown to "Vilnius" forward Arsenij Buinickij for unsportsmanlike conduct.

With a numerical advantage, the "Vetra-2" players took the initiative and attacked more, but failed to score. At the end of the match, the strengths on the field equalized, as a second yellow card was shown to Marius Babravičius, but the result remained the same - the first eighth-final match ended goalless with a score of 0-0.

The second leg of these teams will be played next Saturday, March 18. On the same day, four more matches of the quarterfinals will start, and in order to avoid overlapping with the main teams' matches, the first two matches between "Vetra" and "Lietava" and "Atlantas" and "Žalgiris" reserves will take place on Friday and Sunday respectively.
