Fans can relax - the oldest team coach Rafael Benitez remains in his position. The Spaniard, denying rumors circulating in the media for some time, stated that he will lead the team at least until the end of the current contract - 2009. Last week reports surfaced that R. Benitez could leave England this summer and go work for either the Milan or Madrid team. Nevertheless, on Wednesday it was announced that the coach had signed a new contract with Liverpool, although the Spaniard himself denied it. "The only thing I signed tonight (03.15) is autographs," said R. Benitez. "But it is absolutely clear that I am staying in Liverpool. I would like to thank the fans, the club's management and board members for their support. I am happy here and I will definitely not go anywhere, as I want to win more trophies with the Liverpool club. I can add that my relationship with the fans and the management is simply fantastic. Speaking about the goals of this and next season, the Spaniard stated: "This season we will try to finish in second place in the English championship, and next year we will aim for the first position. It won't be easy, but we will try to attract the best players and work hard to achieve the goal of winning many trophies. "The ideas of the club's leaders and mine coincide and I do not demand anything from them," continued one of the best strategists of the continent, thus denying rumors that he requires 30 million pounds for new players for the next season. "They know that we need to improve and everyone works hard to achieve that. Can we win the English championship next year? It will depend on clubs like Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, and maybe Tottenham, but we will try. "Because even before coming here, I knew that Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with all the opportunities to fight for the highest trophies."
