The first match of the Italian Cup between a local club and Turin was played in Rome. The hosts won with a result of 2-0.
The Rome Olympic Stadium was almost full, creating a good atmosphere.
In the first minute of the match, under pressure, "Juventus" coach Marcello Lippi, as usual, started smoking.
"Juventus" had the first opportunity. Mauro Camoranesi passed the ball into the penalty area, and Marco Di Vaio kicked dangerously while falling, but luckily for "Lazio" fans, the goalkeeper Matteo Sereni reacted to this shot and deflected it.
Soon, there were a few more dangerous "Juve's" attacks. The hosts only woke up at the end of the half and even managed to score a goal, but referee Collina did not count it, seeing a foul against "Juventus" goalkeeper Chimenti.
From the beginning of the second half, there was a fierce battle. In the 53rd minute, Pessoto brought down a "Lazio" player in the penalty area and a penalty kick was awarded, but Chimenti saved Cesar's attempt brilliantly.
The first goal in "Juve's" goal came in the 60th minute. Fiore scored it after receiving a pass from Couto.
20 minutes later, Fiore scored his second goal. After a corner kick from the defender bouncing towards the goal, he sent it in while falling.
Shortly after the second goal, "Juve's" defender Igor Tudor's nerves couldn't hold. He was sent off the field for rough play.
With about 10 minutes left to play, "Juventus" remained with 10 men and couldn't soften the result.
The return match will take place in Turin, at the Delle Alpi Stadium.
