The Munich club and the German national team received bad news - one of the country's best defenders, Sebastian Deisler, will miss the rest of the season and the upcoming World Cup due to a knee injury.
The 26-year-old footballer suffered the injury a few days ago during a routine training session with his club "Bayern", when he collided with his teammate Owen Hargreaves. Deisler immediately traveled to Colorado (USA) to work with one of the best knee injury specialists, Richard Steadman, who diagnosed the injury as very serious.
As announced on Saturday by the Munich team's representative Markus Horwick, detailed examinations revealed a severe damage to the knee joint cartilage. It is predicted that S. Deisler will be unable to play for approximately six months due to this injury.
This is another serious blow to S. Deisler, once considered the most promising German footballer, whose career has already been marked by severe injuries and a difficult battle with depression. It was because of injuries that he missed the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
