In the Edinburgh team - coach changes again. The club, owned by Lithuanian businessman Vladimir Romanov, who holds the second place in the Scottish championship, decided to dismiss the head coach Graham Rix.
Englishman "Hearts" took over the steering wheel just four months ago when the successful team was sensationally refused the services of George Burley. The temporary strategist of the team until the end of the season will be Valdas Ivanauskas, a former coach of the Lithuanian national team, and he will be assisted by John McGlynn.
"We were not satisfied with the team's play," said club president Roman Romanov in an official statement. - "The results were not as they should have been. We also see that some of the newcomers acquired in January were not used properly."
R. Romanov also mentioned that this decision was influenced by a scandal during which it was alleged that the starting lineup for the match against "Dundee Utd" was chosen not by G. Rix, but by the club owner V. Romanov.
"We would like to thank G. Rix for his work, because he was dedicated 100 percent, but we failed to achieve results. V. Romanov and club management believed that a quick decision had to be made. We owe it to the fans.
"Hearts" acquired 11 new players this January, many of whom, as it is believed, were selected by V. Romanov himself, but despite that, the starting lineup of the team still mostly consists of old-timers, while the newcomers currently have to sit on the bench. It is interesting to note that along with G. Rix, the football director appointed just a month ago, Jim Duffy, is also leaving the Scottish club.
Currently, "Hearts" in the Scottish championship occupies the second place and lags behind the leader, Glasgow "Celtic" club, by 14 points. On Saturday, playing a draw with their closest pursuers, Glasgow "Rangers," the capital's team maintained a 6-point advantage.
