The goalkeeper who played for the Lithuanian national team for two years will most likely not represent his country in the near future - the player unexpectedly spoke about his disagreements with the team coach Algimantas Liubinskas in an interview for the newspaper "Respublika" supplement "Futbolo ekspresas".
Last September, E. Česnauskis, playing for the national team, received a red card in a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina and was sent off the field. In addition, for improper behavior towards the referee, the Lithuanian later received a five-match suspension.
Although due to this suspension the goalkeeper would have already missed all three matches of the Lithuanian national team's World Cup qualifying matches, in an interview given to "Futbolo ekspresas", when asked if he would come to play for the national team, he now stated that he would not do so due to disagreements with the team strategist A. Liubinskas.
"It's no secret that my relationship with Algimantas Liubinskas is not the best... I don't understand him. If, according to the coach, after every match I am almost the most guilty for the losses, then why should I play in his team? A. Liubinskas communicates with me indirectly, through the press. I can say this much, as long as he leads the Lithuanian national team, I will not help it," the player said, speaking to the newspaper correspondent.
22-year-old E. Česnauskis started his career at Panevėžys "Ekrano" team, and in 2003 moved to the Kyiv "Dynamo" club, but did not manage to establish himself there for over a season. Although the goalkeeper wanted to join Edinburgh "Hearts", which had several other Lithuanian players, the first to pay the ransom for the footballer was the Moscow region team "Saturn", so E. Česnauskis joined this team this month and recently made a great debut in the Russian "Premier" league.
