Due to the struggle for survival in the Italian "Serie A" league, the club has dismissed Bertolo Mutti from the position of head coach, whose players played a 1-1 draw against "Udinese" footballers one step higher on Sunday.
The official "Messina" website states that the Italian club should name a new coach on Monday.
B. Mutti took over at "Messina" in 2003 and helped the club reach Serie A. Last season, "Messina" unexpectedly finished in a high seventh place, but now in the tournament of twenty teams they are currently in 18th place and fighting to stay in the top league.
The Italian media reports that the most likely candidate to fill the vacant position is the former "Udinese" and "Cagliari" coach, Italian Gianpiero Ventura.
