On Sunday, three more matches of the 31st round were played in the English Premier League. The matches were characterized by high scoring - a total of 14 goals were scored.
Another victory was achieved by the "Man Utd" team, strengthening their position in the fight for second place by easily defeating the struggling "Birmingham" team 3-0 at home.
Again without Ruud van Nistelrooy in the starting lineup, the "Red Devils" proved their superiority within the first 15 minutes - after just three minutes, Ryan Giggs scored a great penalty from 20 meters, followed by another goal after ten meters, a precise pass from Wayne Rooney, practically securing the victory for their team. However, the first goal was credited to the opponent's goalkeeper as the ball rebounded off his back and into the goal.
In the second half of the match, the situation did not change, and although "Birmingham" also had opportunities to score some goals, they failed to capitalize on them. Wayne Rooney sealed the victory with the final blow to the "Blues" at the end of the match.
After this victory, "Man Utd" climbed to second place, two points ahead of "Liverpool" who still have two matches in hand. Meanwhile, "Birmingham" remains in 18th place, with a 3-point gap from safety in 17th place.
In another dramatic match, "Middlesbrough" defeated "Bolton" 4-3 at home in the battle for a spot in European tournaments next season. The hosts secured the victory with a goal from Stuart Parnaby in the last minute of the match. Meanwhile, "Newcastle" suffered their fourth consecutive defeat - a 3-1 loss away to the "Charlton" team.
