Spanish referees are threatening to strike, which could postpone the match known as "El Clasico" between two of the most famous Spanish teams - Madrid's "Real" and "Barcelona" - which should take place this Saturday.

Referees announced on Monday that they will declare a strike if they do not receive their salaries for the last two months by this weekend.

If referees were to declare a strike, most likely the matches of the top and second divisions of Spain on April 1 and 2 would not take place, including "El Clasico" on Saturday and also the traditionally highly anticipated Seville derby between "Sevilla" and "Betis" on Sunday.

In August, the Spanish Football Federation decided to increase the salaries for the referees officiating in the country's championships, but the Referees' Association stated that they have not received the promised agreed amounts.
